Welsh
bread covered with cheddar melted in beer and browned in the oven, the dish of the brasseries of the Côte d'Opale
preparation
How it is made
Quantities are for 4 people. The steps are in the order you do them.
- dice the cheddar
- put the slices of bread in four ovenproof dishes, one each
- in a saucepan melt the cheddar without adding any fat, stirring all the time: at first it goes stringy, and that is normal
- when it coats the spoon, pour in the beer and stir until everything is blended
- add the mustard
- pour the cheese over the slices of bread
- put in the oven at 200 degrees for about ten minutes, until well browned
- serve at once, with a salad or with chips
